Check voicemail from a phone, at the office or away
- Audience: End users
Last updated
Your messages are stored on the phone system, not on your phone, so you can listen from your own desk phone or from a coworker's. You can also play messages in your browser. See Listen to, move, forward and delete voicemail online. To read messages as text, see Read voicemail as text.
Check your own mailbox
- Step 1:Dial your voicemail code
Pick up your desk phone and dial *123.
- Step 2:Enter your PIN
Key in your voicemail PIN when asked. If your admin turned off the PIN prompt for this code, you go straight in.
- Step 3:Listen to the count
The system tells you how many new and old messages you have.
- Step 4:Press 1 to play messages
Depending on your settings, you hear the date, time and caller's number before each message.
- Step 5:Press # when you're done
That exits the voicemail menu.
Check from another phone
Dial *124 from any phone on your system. It asks for your mailbox number, which is your extension, and then your PIN. This code always asks for the PIN.
Check from outside the office
Away from your desk, you have a few ways to get your messages:
- In the apps. If you have the Communicator apps, Communicator GO on your cell phone and CallSprout Communicator NEXT on your computer both show your voicemail. See listen to voicemail in Communicator.
- By email. If voicemail to email is turned on, each new message arrives in your inbox, with a transcript if transcription is on too. See get voicemail by email.
- By calling in. If your company asks for it, CallSprout support can set up your extension so you can call in from any phone and press the star key (*) to reach your voicemail menu. Then enter your PIN. Ask your admin whether it's set up for you.
Use the voicemail menu
After you sign in, these keys work from the main menu.

What to expect
With *124, the first prompt asks for your mailbox number, then your PIN. With your own code, you're asked only for your PIN, if at all. These are standard system prompts, not your own greeting.
Advanced options depend on your account's settings, so you may not be able to place a call or leave a message from there.
If you enter the wrong PIN too many times, the mailbox locks. See My voicemail is locked.
