Ring your desk and cell phone together or in order
- Audience: End users
Last updated
You can have your calls reach your cell phone and other numbers as well as your desk. Pick the style that suits you:
- Group hunt rings every phone on your list at the same time.
- Follow me rings the phones on your list one after another, in the order you set.
Either way, if nobody answers, the call goes to a last destination you choose, or to your voicemail.
Some labels in your portal or apps may look slightly different from this guide.
Set up your list of phones
- Step 1:Open your call settingsSign in to your user portal, select Other, then Services, and select Edit next to Group Hunt or Follow Me.
- Step 2:Add your destinationsAdd each phone you want to ring: extensions, landlines or your cell phone. Include your own extension if you want your desk phone in the mix.
- Step 3:Set how long each one ringsGive each destination a ring time in seconds.
- Step 4:Choose where unanswered calls goPick a last destination, or leave calls to go to your voicemail.
- Step 5:Turn on call confirmation for cell phonesWith confirmation on, the person answering an outside number is asked to press a key before the call connects. That keeps your cell phone's own voicemail from grabbing the call.
- Step 6:Save and turn the service on
Your other call settings are in the same place. See Manage forwarding, follow me and caller ID online.
Turn it on and off from your desk phone
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| *510 | Turn on group hunt. |
| *511 | Turn off group hunt. |
| *520 | Turn on follow me. |
| *521 | Turn off follow me. |
What to expect
- If both are on, follow me wins and group hunt is ignored.
- Calls to cell phones can take a few seconds longer to start ringing.
- With group hunt, the person who picks up can take the call or decline it. Pick up too late and you'll hear a short message saying another phone got there first.
Troubleshooting
- You don't see these settings. Your admin may not have turned them on for you. Ask them, or contact support.
