Star codes let you change settings and reach features by dialing from your desk phone. Dial the code like a phone number. When a code needs more digits, like an extension or phone number, dial those right after it. Print this page from your browser to keep a copy by your phone.
Voicemail
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| *123 | Check your own voicemail. |
| *124 | Check any mailbox from any phone. You'll be asked for the extension and its PIN. |
Forwarding and Do Not Disturb
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| *71 then a number | Send all your calls to another extension or phone number. |
| *72 | Stop forwarding your calls. |
| *78 | Turn on Do Not Disturb. |
| *79 | Turn off Do Not Disturb. |
| *520 | Turn on follow me, so calls try your other numbers too. |
| *521 | Turn off follow me. |
Business hours
Anyone on your account can dial these. Dialed alone, they change your account's schedule until midnight. See open or close early.
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| *402 | Close now, so calls go to your after hours destination. |
| *401 | Open now, so calls follow the open hours path. |
| *403 | Go back to your regular schedule. |
Caller ID
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| *81 then the number | Hide your caller ID on this one call. |
| *67 | Hide your caller ID on every call until you dial the code below. |
| *68 | Show your caller ID again after hiding it. |
| *65 then the list entry, then the number | Call out with another number your admin has allowed for you. After the code, dial the entry number of that caller ID in your list, then the number you want to call. |
Pick up and park calls
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| *8 | Answer a call ringing on a coworker's phone in your pickup group. |
| *88 then the extension | Answer a call ringing on one specific extension. |
| #700 | Park the call you're on so someone else can pick it up. |
Parked calls wait in slots 701 to 720. To pick one up, dial its slot number from any phone. If that doesn't work, ask your admin to turn on call pickup for your extension. A call nobody picks up within 45 seconds rings back the person who parked it.
Transfer and hot desk codes
These are the codes your system most likely uses. If one doesn't work, check with support. Your phone's own Transfer key works too.
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| # then the extension | Send the caller straight to another extension (blind transfer). |
| *2 then the extension | Talk to a coworker first, then hang up to hand the call over (attended transfer). |
| *0 | Cancel an attended transfer and go back to your caller. |
| *555 | Log in to a shared hot desk phone, or log out of it. |
Recording
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| *159 | Start recording the call you're on, from that point. |
| *90 | Pause the recording during a call, for example while a caller reads out a card number. |
| *91 | Start recording again. |
| *170 then 1 to 9 | Play one of your last nine recorded calls, with 1 the newest. |
Recording laws vary by state. Your company is responsible for any notice or consent they require.
Greeting codes for admins
CallSprout support limits these codes to the extensions your company chooses, so not everyone can change a company greeting. See record a menu greeting from your phone.
| Dial | To |
|---|---|
| *301 | Record a greeting or sound file from your phone. |
| *303 then the number | Record a new greeting for a phone menu or ring group and put it straight in. |
| *304 then the number | Record a new greeting and delete the old one. |
