Parking puts a call on hold in a numbered slot that anyone on your phone system can reach. It's handy when the person the caller needs is away from their desk, or when you want to walk to another room and take the call there.
Park a call
- Step 1:Dial the park codeWhile you're on the call, dial #700.
- Step 2:Note the slot numberThe system parks the caller in the first free slot and reads the slot number out to you.
- Step 3:Hang upThe caller stays on hold in that slot.
- Step 4:Tell someone where the call isLet your coworker know the slot number so they can pick up the call.
Pick up a parked call
- Step 1:Go to any phone on your systemIt doesn't need to be the phone that parked the call.
- Step 2:Dial the slot numberParking slots are numbered 701 to 720. Dial the one you were given and you're connected to the caller.
Use park keys on your desk phone
If your admin has set up park keys on your phone, each key matches one slot. The key lights up when a call is waiting in its slot, and pressing it picks the call up. To park a call on a specific key's slot, press the pound key and then that park key.
What to expect
- A parked call that nobody picks up within 45 seconds rings back the person who parked it.
- The system always uses the first free slot, so the slot number can change from one call to the next.
Troubleshooting
- Dialing the slot number doesn't connect you. Your extension needs call pickup turned on to retrieve parked calls. Ask your admin to turn it on.
- The park code doesn't work. Parking is on for every user, so check that you dialed the code during the call. If it still doesn't work, contact support.
