Use Communicator in Teams on your phone

  • Audience: App users
  • Add-on: Communicator apps

Last updated

On a phone, Communicator in Teams works alongside Communicator GO, our mobile app. Teams is where you see and start your calls, and GO does the calling behind the scenes.

This feature needs the Communicator apps add-on on your account. See plans and pricing

Some labels in your portal or apps may look slightly different from this guide.

The Microsoft Teams integration features described on this page require an active, permitted connection to Microsoft Teams. Availability depends on that system's supported APIs and permissions.

Before you start

Communicator in Teams is included on every plan. Ask CallSprout support to turn it on for your company. On a phone, you also need Communicator GO, which comes with the Communicator apps add-on. Ask your admin whether you have it.

Set it up

  1. Step 1:
    Install Communicator GO
Follow install and sign in to Communicator GO to get it on your iPhone or Android phone and sign in with your extension.
  2. Step 2:
    Open Teams on your phone
Open Microsoft Teams and go to Communicator in Teams.
  3. Step 3:
Use the same extension in both
Sign in to Communicator in Teams with the same extension you used in GO. That's what links the two apps.

How calls work on mobile

  • When you start a call or a conference in Teams, it's handed to Communicator GO, which connects it and runs it.
  • Incoming calls arrive through GO, so they still reach you when Teams isn't open.

What you can't do on mobile

Microsoft limits what apps can do inside Teams on a phone. Because of that, you can't download voicemail messages or picture messages (MMS) in Teams on mobile. Use Communicator in Teams on your computer when you need them.
