Add Communicator in Teams and allow the microphone
- Audience: App users

Communicator in Teams puts your CallSprout phone line in an app inside Microsoft Teams. Here's how to add it, give it your microphone and sign in.
Some labels in your portal or apps may look slightly different from this guide.
The Microsoft Teams integration features described on this page require an active, permitted connection to Microsoft Teams. Availability depends on that system's supported APIs and permissions.
Before you start
Communicator in Teams is included on every plan. Ask CallSprout support to turn it on for your company. The app also has to be published in your company's Microsoft 365 before you can add it. CallSprout or your IT admin does that, so check with your admin first. To make and take calls, you'll also need the desktop plugin on your computer.
Add the app
- Step 1:Open AppsIn the Teams sidebar, select Apps. If it's not there, look under the three dots.
- Step 2:Find CommunicatorSearch for Communicator, or look under Added by your org. The app shows in Teams as Communicator. If you can't spot it, ask your admin.
- Step 3:Add itSelect Add if it isn't added yet, then open it.
- Step 4:Pin itRight-click its icon in the sidebar and select Pin, so it stays there.
Let it use your microphone
- Step 1:Open the app's settingsGo to the settings page for Communicator in Teams.
- Step 2:Find the permissionsScroll to App permissions and find Communicator.
- Step 3:Turn on the microphoneSwitch microphone access on.
- Step 1:Open the appMake sure you're signed in to Teams with your Microsoft account, then open Communicator.
- Step 2:Choose how to sign inSelect Password Login, or Single Sign-On if CallSprout support has turned it on for your company.
- Step 3:Enter your detailsType the email address on your extension and your Communicator password.
- Step 4:Pick a new password the first timeOn your first sign in, the app asks you to set a new password. It needs a strong mix of letters, numbers and symbols. Your admin can't look it up later, so store it somewhere safe.
If your company requires two step verification, set it up in your user portal first. See Turn on two step verification. Single sign-on and two step verification can't be used together, so this doesn't apply if you sign in with single sign-on.
Troubleshooting
- "Login Failed" shows up. The email or password doesn't match. Check both, or select Forgot your password to get a reset link by email. Each extension needs its own email address. If yours is shared with another extension, ask your admin to fix it.
- The app isn't in the list. Ask your admin whether it's been published for you.
