Let your AI assistant read your calls and chats (early access)

  • Audience: App users
  • Add-on: Communicator apps

Last updated

CallSprout Communicator NEXT can run an MCP server on your computer. MCP is a standard way for AI assistants to connect to other software. Once your assistant is connected, it can read your chats, your call history and your scheduled meetings, so you can ask it about them.

This feature needs the Communicator apps add-on on your account. See plans and pricing

Some labels in your portal or apps may look slightly different from this guide.

The AI assistant integration features described on this page require an active, permitted connection to AI assistant. Availability depends on that system's supported APIs and permissions.

Before you start

  • It's early access. The feature is still being finished, so it can change, and it may not be in your version of the app yet. Ask your admin whether it's available to you.
  • It's in the desktop app only. Communicator for the web doesn't have it.
  • You need an AI assistant that supports MCP, installed on the same computer as Communicator NEXT. The server runs locally, so the assistant has to run there too.
  • Check your company's rules first. Ask your admin before you connect an AI tool to your work messages and calls.

Connect your assistant

  1. Step 1:
    Open your settings

In Communicator NEXT, select Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then open the MCP Server section.

  2. Step 2:
    Copy the setup block

Pick the option that matches your assistant. There are ready made blocks for Claude Code and Claude Desktop, plus a Generic MCP client block for other assistants. Copy it.

  3. Step 3:
    Add it to your assistant

Paste the block where your assistant keeps its MCP settings. Each assistant does this its own way, so follow its instructions.

  4. Step 4:
    Try it

Ask your assistant something about your recent calls or chats to check it can see them.

The section also has an optional Bearer Token Authentication setting. Ask your admin whether your company wants it on. For more detail from the app itself, select Get more info.

What to expect

  • Read only. Your assistant can read your chats, calls and meetings, but it can't change anything in Communicator.
  • Only while you're signed in. The server starts when you sign in to Communicator NEXT and stops when you sign out. While you're signed out, your assistant can't reach it.
  • Answers can be wrong. AI assistants make mistakes, including when they summarize your calls or chats. Check anything important in Communicator before you act on it.
  • Your assistant has its own rules. What happens to the information after your assistant reads it depends on that assistant and how it's set up. Your admin can tell you which assistants your company allows.
