Fix "Calls unavailable. WebRTC is disabled"

  • Audience: App users
  • Audience: Admins

Last updated

You might see this message when you try to call from Communicator in Teams:

Calls unavailable. WebRTC is disabled for your extension. Please contact your system administrator to enable it.

It means your extension isn't set up yet for calls from the app. The fix happens on your phone system, not on your computer.

Some labels in your portal or apps may look slightly different from this guide.

The Microsoft Teams integration features described on this page require an active, permitted connection to Microsoft Teams. Availability depends on that system's supported APIs and permissions.

If you see it as a user

  1. Step 1:
    Note the details
Write down your extension number and the exact message.
  2. Step 2:
    Ask your admin
Send both to your phone system admin. They ask CallSprout support to turn on WebRTC for your extension.
  3. Step 3:
    Try again
Once they tell you it's done, place the call from Teams again.

Not sure who your admin is? Contact CallSprout support.

If you're the admin

Calls from the app need two things, and CallSprout support handles both:

  • WebRTC turned on for the person's extension.
  • Secure (TLS) connections turned on for your phone system.
  1. Step 1:
    Note the details
Get the person's extension number and the exact message.
  2. Step 2:
    Ask support
Send both to CallSprout support and ask them to turn on WebRTC for that extension.
  3. Step 3:
    Ask them to test
When support confirms, have the person try a call from Teams again.

If the message keeps coming back after that, contact support again with a copy of the message.

A different call problem

If there's no message but calls still won't connect, check that the desktop plugin is running. Teams can't place or receive calls without it.
