Add holiday closures

Closed dates handle the days your regular schedule doesn't cover, like Thanksgiving, a company retreat or an early close before a long weekend. On a closed date, the system skips your normal open hours and sends calls to the destination you choose.
Some labels in your portal or apps may look slightly different from this guide.
Before you start
Closed dates live inside your business hours settings, so set those up first. They follow your account's time zone, which CallSprout sets when it builds your account. Set business hours and after hours routing covers that. If your phone numbers and menus inherit the account schedule, add holidays to the account schedule once and everything picks them up.
Add a closed date
- Step 1:Open the business hours settings
Open the schedule you want to change, for example your account schedule under Settings, and go to Operation Times. For closed dates on a phone number's own schedule, send your list to CallSprout support.
- Step 2:Add a row under Closed Dates
In the Closed Dates section, add a new row.
- Step 3:Set the date and time
Enter the date you're closed. To close for part of a day, such as from 13:00 on December 24, set the time range as well.
- Step 4:Pick a destination (optional)
Leave the destination empty to use your normal after hours destination. Fill it in to send that day's calls somewhere else, like the on call manager's phone.
- Step 5:Save
Save your changes. Then place a test call, or check again before the date arrives.
What callers hear
On a closed date, callers hear the closed greeting set for that schedule, then go to the date's destination or your after hours destination. To mention the holiday by name, record a new closed greeting a few days before and switch back afterward.
Closed dates come first
The system checks closed dates before anything else in the schedule. A closed date that falls on a normal weekday wins over your open hours and over any custom destinations, such as a lunch window.
Load a year of holidays at once
The business hours settings let you download a CSV template, fill in your dates, and upload it. Download your current rules first so you have a copy before you change anything.
Closing on short notice
For a snow day or a sudden early close, you don't need to add a date. Dial the close code from a desk phone instead. Open or close early explains how.
