CallSprout + xAI
xAI's realtime voice models are one of the options for running an AI voice agent on CallSprout's phone system, listening and answering in the same spoken conversation. Available for xAI.
How CallSprout works with xAI.
A realtime voice model does the listening and the talking on an AI voice agent call. It hears the caller, works out what they need, and answers out loud in the same conversation, without a separate step that turns speech into text and back again. xAI offers realtime voice models built for that kind of conversation.
CallSprout builds everything around the model: the phone system, the instructions that keep an agent on task, the hand-offs to your team, and the limits that keep calls safe. Which model runs an agent is set for each deployment, and we choose it with you.
If your team wants a voice agent to run on your own xAI account, we can talk through that setup with you. In that case, xAI's terms and usage charges apply to your account.
CallSprout and xAI, working together.
What Sage does once your call data flows into the tools you already use.
A realtime voice model listens and answers in one continuous exchange, so callers can interrupt, change their mind or ask a follow-up the way they would with a person.
The agent's instructions, hand-off rules and call limits are set by CallSprout, so the model works inside the boundaries your business needs.
When a call needs your team, the agent passes it to a person on your CallSprout phones instead of trying to handle everything itself.
Why a realtime voice model matters on the phone
Older voice systems worked in steps: write down what the caller said, decide on an answer, then read the answer aloud. Each step adds a pause, and callers notice. A realtime voice model handles the conversation as speech from start to finish, so the replies come quickly and the exchange sounds like talking rather than waiting.
What runs where
When an agent runs on an xAI model, the caller's audio goes to xAI so the model can hear and respond. Everything else, including your numbers, your call routing, the hand-off to your team and the call details the agent captures, is handled by CallSprout.
If you would rather run a different agent, CallSprout also connects to outside agent platforms such as Retell, Vapi and ElevenLabs. The AI voice agent page covers what Sage, CallSprout's own agent, does on your calls.

xAI, answered.
- Can I run a voice agent on my own xAI account?
- xAI is one of the providers available for voice agents on CallSprout. If you want one on your own xAI account, we can talk through it with you, and xAI's terms and charges apply to that account.
- Does xAI receive my call audio?
- Only on calls handled by an agent that runs on an xAI model. Then the caller's audio goes to xAI so the model can hear and respond. Your numbers, routing and the call details the agent captures are handled by CallSprout.
- Do I need an xAI account?
- Not necessarily. Some setups use your own xAI account, and then xAI's terms and usage charges apply to it. We go through the options with you during setup.
