Every month we select a nonprofit organization to feature. This month is foster care awareness month and we are pleased to support Place of Hope at the Leighan and David Rinker Campus. Eric Bucher invited Lisa Inman McDulin to the garage to share more about Place of Hope and all of the amazing work they do in our community.
Did you know that:
– Young adults who age out of the foster care system are able to attend any state college for free and less than 2% actually take advantage of this.
– An average of 70-100 kids come through the child welfare system every month to receive care.
– Place of Hope cares for an average of 300 foster children every day.
– Human trafficking is a serious problem in Palm Beach County and Place of Hope provides a safe house (one of three in Florida).There are a lot of facts many people don’t know about foster care. We can all do our part to help raise awareness.
Place of Hope was originally founded through Christ Fellowship CityPlace and they have cared for over 10,000 children in sixteen years. They currently have 5 campuses between Palm Beach Gardens and Boca. Last week they had a very successful Angel Mom's Brunch event where over 600 people attended. The keynote speaker was Leigh Anne Tuohy and she shared her personal "Blind Side" observations.
